There has been a lot written recently about the stress and challenges imposed on all of us due to the COVID pandemic. One of the key groups who have been seriously impacted by these stressors are people who have lost their jobs due to the economic turmoil caused by COVID.

At Global Consulting Group, we have been fortunate to assist many people who are facing job loss, offering them our unique & holistic career transition program. Now, more than ever, it is important to assist people to get back on their feet after being downsized. At Global we provide traditional career coaching: encompassing great resumes, cover letters & social media presence, as well as training on job search strategies, networking, interviewing and offer negotiation. Our programs don’t stop at coaching on tactical job search skills, as we also address personal challenges such as stress management, nutrition & wellness, and personal leadership skills.

One of the key attributes we coach our clients to develop is resilience. It is essential to develop the ability to get back on one’s feet after job loss and to approach job search with creativity, energy and a relentlessly positive mindset.

We are delighted to share some tips for resilience with you. We provide our career coaching clients with many of the following tactics:

o Identifying companies that are growing because of new demands caused by COVID – we have developed a database of companies that are actually thriving in these difficult times o Taking a new approach to job search when the traditional search methodology is not working. We don’t let our clients stall in their search; rather, we meet regularly with them to determine what is working well and what tactics need to be diminished. o Encouraging clients to seek out and benefit from the “hidden job market”. o Teaching people how to locate remote roles or transition a traditional in-office role into a remote opportunity; thereby increasing their market from their local city to all of Canada and beyond. o Helping our clients to recover lost confidence and approach their search with a strong knowledge of their skills, achievements and true value-add to a future employer o Most importantly, we coach our clients on networking effectively. Since networking is even more important post-COVID where companies choose to hire people whom their staff can recommend, we encourage our clients to expand and enhance their network effectively and efficiently.
